And I have so many blueprints; for music, film, animation, and graphic artwork. They all want my attention. They all want to be first. I call them my little brain children, each wanting Daddy to play with them. So I give each of them a little of my time throughout the day, throughout the week. I do this so that they will not drive me totally mad. So they do not destroy the last bit of sanity that I have left.
But this is the path I was given and I choose to walk it, no matter how many times I trip on the bumps in the road. Oh yes, you will trip!
But when you trip, what do you do? Do you stop and look back at the spot you tripped on, make sure no one saw you and keep going? No, on this road you want people to see you trip. Sure, some will laugh when you trip, but ignore them. For others will gain from your stumbling.
Why? Because they have tripped too, and in seeing you trip they will not feel alone the next time they trip. That is my job. That is the job of an artist.
You must make statements about things and do what you feel, no matter how stupid you think it is. No matter who's watching you.
So trip, my fellow artists. Trip and fall hard, knowing that you have inspired someone.

ReplyDeleteBravo!
and thank you... some of us do have to get over fearing the potential repercussions of our words.
When the ears are not ready, our words can produce heat.
I think that some of us, particularly creative minds, are simply recipes that take longer to cook... we often have such diverse interests that we may appear like the jack of all trades for quite awhile... until we pick up enough pieces to form a circle, connecting what we've learned along the way into a whole. And I agree with you, it is not an "easy" path.
